FAQ
-
The ProArt PA40SU Series supports M-key M.2 NVMe® PCIe® SSDs in 2230 and 2280 form factors.
-
The ProArt PA40SU Series supports up to 4TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSDs (2230/2280 form factors, M key).
-
To get the most out of the PA40SU, the entire hardware chain—including the host device, interface, cable, and SSD—must meet the required specifications. If you experience limited speeds, please verify the following factors:
- Host Interface Specification: Please ensure your computer’s port fully supports USB4® (40Gbps). Some ports labeled as Thunderbolt™ 4 or USB-C® may automatically adjust speeds (e.g., reduced to 10Gbps) depending on the system's PCIe bandwidth allocation when handshaking with different bridge chipsets.
- Internal SSD Performance: The PA40SU supports the M.2 NVMe protocol. Ensure that the installed SSD has a theoretical sequential read speed higher than 3,500 MB/s. Using older specifications M.2 SSDs will limit the speed to the physical capabilities of the drive itself.
- Original High-Speed Cable: Always use the USB4 high-speed cable provided with the PA40SU. Standard USB-C charging cables or low-spec data cables do not have the necessary bandwidth to carry 40Gbps data loads.
- System and Drivers: Ensure your operating system (Windows 11 or the latest macOS) is up to date and that the latest chipset drivers are installed to optimize USB4 resource allocation.
-
Achieving consistent 40Gbps performance requires more than just high-end chips; it demands thermal precision. The ProArt PA40SU has an active four-level smart fan to ensure the hardware remains at its optimal operating temperature even after hours of continuous use. This professional-grade thermal management design ensures creators experience uninterrupted productivity.
