[Graphic Card] What to Do if ASUS GPU Tweak III Power Detector+ Shows a Red Warning

What to Do if ASUS GPU Tweak III Power Detector+ Shows a Red Warning

🔺 Question 1: When does the red warning appear?
Power Detector+ continuously monitors the current on all six sense pins of the 12VHPWR (12+4 pin) connector or 12V-2x6 connector. A red alert will be triggered if any of the following conditions are detected:
● One or more pins report 0 amps of electrical current.

● One or more pins exceed 9.2 amps.

🔍 Question 2: How do I troubleshoot this?
Follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue:
1. Shut down and unplug your PC immediately
For safety, power off your system and unplug its power cable before proceeding.

2. Inspect the cable and connector
Check if the 12VHWPR cable or 12V-2x6 cable near the connector is bent, deformed, overheated or any other abnormal.
● If you detect any of these issues, replace the cable immediately. Also avoid using low quality or uncertified adapter cables.

● If these issues are not detected, continue to the next step.

3. Check if the 12VHPWR or 12V-2x6 connector is fully inserted
● Ensure the connector is fully seated. Should You hear a distinct “click” when it is in all the way.

● The should be no visible gap between the cable connector and the socket on the graphics card.

● If you are using an adapter cable that was bundled with the graphics card, instead of the 12VHPWR cable or 12V-2x6 cable that can come with a power supply, make sure both ends are firmly connected.

4. Check PSU output and cables
Ensure your PSU provides enough wattage to support your GPU (refer to the recommended PSU wattage for your model).

5. Inspect the GPU power socket
Make sure the GPU's power input is clean and that none of the pins are damaged or broken.

6. Restart and monitor with GPU Tweak III Power Detector+
After powering back on, launch GPU Tweak III and switch to Default Mode. If no red warnings appear, you can continue using the system, but monitor it for a few days to ensure stability.

⚠️ Question 3: What if the red warning keeps showing up?
If the red alert returns even after completing the steps above, try the following:
1. Replace the cable
● If the same pins are still flagged after reconnecting, it may indicate internal damage, poor contact or abnormal impedance in the cable.

● If different pins are flagged, the issue may be caused by uneven pressure or bending near the connector.

2. If replacing the cable does not help
If possible, try testing with a different cable, PSU or graphics card that are known to operate correctly.

If the red alert persists after conducting these tests, please contact ASUS service center for further assistance.
