[Workstation System] Pro ET900N G3 FAQ

Question1: Why is there no display on Remote KVM and MiniDP after installing a discrete GPU (e.g., RTX PRO PCIe dGPU)? What should I do?

Answer1: This is normal behavior.

  • Cause:
Once a discrete GPU (dGPU) is installed, the system forces it as the primary display output by default and will not automatically switch back to the onboard MiniDP or BMC KVM video sources.
  • Impact on Functionality:
Normal Functions: You can log in to the BMC WebUI normally (to check Health Status/Event Log), use IPMI commands, and execute remote power controls (Power On/Off/Reset).
Restricted Functions: Remote KVM has no display/cannot be controlled, and the onboard MiniDP cannot output video.
  • Workaround & Solution:
    1. Temporary Operation: If you need to configure the BIOS or operate the OS (e.g., Ubuntu), connect a monitor to the dGPU's display output port, and attach a keyboard and mouse to the system's USB ports for local operation.
    2. Restoring KVM / MiniDP Functionality: You must power off the system and physically remove the dGPU. (Note: Simply unplugging the display cable from the dGPU will not restore the MiniDP or KVM display.)
